Wine Featured: Fritz Windisch Oppenheimer Krotenbrunnen
This wine holds a soft spot in my heart since it's one of the first German wines I tried in the early 1980s while living in Germany.
This an Auslese riesling, indicating that it is a late-harvest wine and the grapes must be hand-picked. This is a sweeter Riesling due to the fact that the grapes are left on the wine until very late in the season.
Rieslings can be very sweet to dry. We tend to think of Rieslings as sweet, however, the majority of Germans consume dry rieslings.
